For the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels, our Sunday morning liturgy will feature Missa in Angustiis by Joseph Haydn.
Composed in 1798 during a time of political uncertainty in Europe, Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (“Mass for Troubled Times”) reflects both tension and hope. The work later became associated with the Battle of the Nile and the victory of British Admiral Horatio Nelson, from which it gained its popular name, the Nelson Mass. Widely regarded as one of Haydn’s greatest sacred works, the Mass is notable for its dramatic intensity, powerful choral writing, and brilliant interplay between soloists and orchestra.
Admission is free. Open to the public. No RSVP needed. All are welcome!
