All Souls’ Sunday
A Service of Remembrance and Hope

On All Souls’ Sunday, the St. Michael’s Choir, orchestra, and organ will present Lux Aeterna by Morton Lauridsen. Composed in 1997, Lux Aeterna is one of Lauridsen’s best-known works and has become a cornerstone of the modern choral repertoire. Lauridsen selected texts from the Latin liturgy that focus on the themes of light, rest, and eternal peace. Written in memory of his mother, the work draws inspiration from the Gregorian chant tradition while combining it with Lauridsen’s distinctive contemporary harmonic language.
