Update from Brooke Pauley
Baptized as an infant at St. Michael’s, Brooke is now an enthusiastic volunteer as she discerns ordination. Twice our Youth Sunday homilist, Brooke is passionate about sharing the gospel with all ages. This past summer, before going off to study theology at Wadham College Oxford, Brooke was active in many of our Christian education ministries; notably, she designed and implemented a weekly Sunday school curriculum spanning toddlers to middle graders. Among other plans, she looks forward to developing a theological curriculum for our nursery level. In a note to Susan Caldwell, she's tell us what she's done lately:
Hi, Susan!
I hope you’re doing well in the lead-up to Lent! I am very much enjoying my courses this term; reading through John’s Gospelwhich I’m working with for the next four weeks, was the perfect Valentine’s Day present to myself yesterday. The chaplain recommended “The Screwtape Letters” to me, and now I’m wondering what took me so long!! The observations are so smart, so true to my own critical voice, that I say, “Oh my gosh, YES!” almost every other line.
You are more than welcome to share this email with anyone who might be curious about how I am doing; I also thought some people might like to read some of the things I have been writing occasionally about my experience.
- About how God shows up, with a tie-in to the call of Samuel:
- About how everything is temporary with a tie-in to (what else?) Ecclesiastes
Thinking of and praying for you all,
Brooke
