Wardens: We present to you these persons to be commissioned to the ministry of the Saint Michael and All Angels Transition Committee: Lynn Headley, Anne Conover, Beth Bianchi, Brooke Pauley, Don Sheetz, Elizabeth Henry, Jill Faller, Melinda Rader, Michael Boor, Pat Albers, Steve Dulson.
Celebrant: Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are all baptized by the one spirit into one Body, and given gifts for a variety of ministries for the common good. Our purpose is to commission these persons in the Name of God and of this congregation to a special ministry to which they are called.
Are these persons you present prepared by a commitment to Christ as Lord and by the knowledge of their duties, to exercise this position of trust and responsibility to the Glory of God, and the well-being of God’s church?
Wardens: We believe they are.
Celebrant: You have been called to a special ministry in this congregation: to serve on the Transition Committee that will prepare Saint Michael and All Angels for it’s rector search. This is not a short term commitment, easily fulfilled and quickly finished. Will you perform this important work with commitment and diligence?
Candidates: I will with God’s help.
Celebrant: Will you embrace this opportunity to examine the corporate life of Saint Michael and All Angels; to lift up what is good and acknowledge what is harmful and give thanks for the continuing life of the People of God?
People: I will with God’s help.
Celebrant: Will you who witness these vows do all in your power to actively support these persons and their work as Saint Michael and All Angels transition ministers?
People: We will
Celebrant: Will engage with these ministers in prayerful consideration of the strengths and weaknesses of this parish, its gifts and its needs, and its place in the purposes of God?
People: We will
Celebrant: Let us pray. Eternal God, the foundation of all wisdom and the source of all courage: enlighten with your grace this Transition Committee. Rule their minds and guide their counsel that in all things they may seek your glory and promote the mission of your Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.
In the Name of God and of this congregation, I commission you as members of the Saint Michael and all Angels Transition Committee.
People: Amen.
