Sarah Rosenson presents: Love Your Neighbor
From Jewish Origins to the Good Samaritan to MLK
Sarah’s Classes returns on January 11 and 18! Sarah Rosenson will lead a Zoom-only 2-session seminar titled "Love Your Neighbor: From Jewish Origins to the Good Samaritan to Martin Luther King Jr"! The one-hour sessions will start at 4:00 pm Pacific time.
This interactive online class will start with an exploration of the idea of loving your neighbor as yourself. Leviticus includes the positive formulation of this idea, and Rabbi Hillel states the negative formulation. We will then discuss Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan from the New Testament. Jesus tells this fascinating story in response to a fellow Jews’ question about how you define “neighbor” in this concept. And then we will discuss quotes from two speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. which refer to the parable of the Good Samaritan. Each quote makes a vitally important point about repairing the world.
Thursday, Jan. 11 - Part 1
Thursday, Jan. 18 - Part 2
