Bishop Taylor to Visit St. Michael And All Angels on Sunday, September 26
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bishop John H. Taylor will celebrate Holy Eucharist, perform Confirmation, and bless the Church’s new chapel.
Corona del Mar, CA — Episcopal Bishop John Taylor, head of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will come to Saint Michael and All Angels to celebrate Holy Eucharist, confirm several individuals, and bless the church’s new chapel. The worship begins at 9 am on Sunday, September 26th. Following worship, the Bishop will join parishioners to enjoy a festive meal, celebrating their patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel.
Bishop Taylor will confirm four young people. He will also receive into the Episcopalian communion one adult and will oversee two current parishioners reaffirming their baptismal vows. He will bless the new chapel, which was created in a wing of the sanctuary previously used for office space, music practice, and summer Vacation Bible School.
Saint Michael and All Angels celebrates the feast day of its patron saint on the Sunday closest to Saint Michael’s Day, September 29. Last year, due to the pandemic, there was no celebration. This year the church is revitalizing the tradition with a Hawaiian-themed meal, and has titled the celebration St. Mike’s, an Island by the Sea.
Saint Michael and All Angels is currently in the process of searching for a new rector, following the retirement of the previous rector, The Rev. Michael Seiler. The interim priest-in-charge is The Rev. Susan Pinkerton.
